Writing in Der Spiegel, David Crossland presents a positive view of the Syrian opposition’s proposals for a democratic transition post-Assad. The detailed recommendations are the product of negotiations between an ethincally and confessionally diverse group of Syrians, backed by a leading German think tank. Divisions remain amongst the oppsition, however, and international support could help to lend legitimacy to a transitional government.
