CMEC Celebrates Nowruz 2024 in House of Lords

CMEC was delighted to celebrate Nowruz, Persian New Year at the beginning of Spring, with so many friends, in the House of Lords.

Nowruz is an ancient Persian festival, taking place each year March 20th-21st on the Spring Equinox. It is celebrated in Iran and many countries across the Middle East and Central Asia.

The festival originated as a celebration marking the beginning of the new year in the Persian calendar, and has been celebrated for more than three millennia.

"Nowruz" combines of two Persian words meaning new (Now) and day (ruz). The exact beginning of the new year occurs precisely on the vernal equinox, usually on the 20th or 21st of March each year.

Nowruz 5The occasion was a chance for celebration, and despite the bleak global challenges, to join predecessors of more than 3000 years in welcoming renewal in the spirit of a joyful Nowruz.

The event was supported by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Omnos, The Intelligent Health System. CMEC would like to express its deep thanks to both organisations.
