Annexation: Rt Hon Alistair Burt In Conversation with Ian Black

Annexation 4: Former UK Middle East Minister The Rt Hon Alistair Burt concludes his series on the issue of annexation with historian and journalist Ian Black, author of many books on the Middle East, the most recent being the seminal 'Enemies and Neighbours: Arabs and Jews in Palestine and Israel, 1917-2017', published in 2017.

The Israeli government has suggested July 1 2020 as a possible date for the effective annexation of parts of the West Bank, a move considered illegal under international law and one that could spell the end of any future possibility of a two-state solution.

CMEC is exploring how this plan might be executed, its potential impact on Israeli and Palestinian security and the implications this move might have for the UK.

In a series of exclusive CMEC Podcasts this week, former UK Middle East Minister, Alistair Burt, speaks to H.E. Dr Husam Zomlot Head of the Palestinian Mission to the UK, H.E. Mark Regev Ambassador of Israel to the UK, Nickolay Mladenov UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and Ian Black, author and senior fellow at LSE Middle East Centre.
