On 10 September 2025, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer received President Isaac Herzog at 10 Downing Street. The leaders engaged in a serious discussion focused principally on Gaza. Prime Minister Starmer strongly urged that Israel allow unimpeded humanitarian aid into the region and suspend its offensive operations to avert further deterioration of the manmade famine. They also concurred on the urgency of securing the release of all hostages, and reaffirmed that Hamas must play no role in the future of the Palestinian people. Alongside this, Prime Minister Starmer condemned recent Israeli strikes in Doha as unacceptable violations of sovereignty.
During his visit, President Herzog also held discussions with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, and visited Parliament, where he met with The Rt Hon Mrs Kemi Badenoch, the Leader of the Conservative Party. He also appeared at Chatham House in conversation with Director Bronwen Maddox, reflecting on the future of regional stability and the enduring importance of the UK–Israel partnership.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to a just and lasting peace that guarantees security and dignity for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
