British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan on Saturday morning. He expressed deep concern over the renewed Israeli military operation in Gaza and the insufficient humanitarian aid reaching the Gazan people.
Starmer thanked His Majesty for Jordan’s leadership and efforts in pursuing a political resolution to the conflict. He welcomed the Arab Plan for Gaza and acknowledged the vital role of Jordan and its regional partners in its development. Both leaders agreed on the importance of urging all parties to restore the ceasefire.
King Abdullah II also emphasised the urgent need to resume the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also reaffirmed Jordan’s firm opposition to any attempts to displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, warning of the dangers posed by continued attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Starmer reiterated the UK’s strong partnership with Jordan, and both leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
