UK MINISTER FOR TRADE VISITS TURKEY

The British Minister of State for Trade Sir Chris Bryant visited Turkey last week to strengthen bilateral cooperation and advance the UK–Turkish economic partnership. During his visit to Ankara, Minister Bryant met with Turkey’s Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, and Deputy Minister of Trade, Mustafa Tuzcu, to discuss priorities for expanding economic ties and unlocking new opportunities for businesses in both countries.

Minister Bryant also attended the Construction Summit, where he met representatives from the business community and explored opportunities for greater collaboration in infrastructure and other key industries. The visit highlighted the increasingly close partnership between the UK and Turkey, including defence cooperation, as well as trade.

With annual bilateral trade currently worth £28 billion, Minister Bryant reiterated the UK’s ambition to double trade with Turkey in the coming years and expressed confidence that negotiations on a modernised Free Trade Agreement would deliver a more comprehensive framework better suited to the needs of modern economies.
